Ted Moncada

Ted apprenticed in Moses Lake under master builder Ed Shultz on custom homes. In Spokane he went into commercial work at Interstate Structures — welding, production, and tight schedules. At Kerry Olson Construction he was promoted to foreman on St. Peter’s Church, where the ornate work had to be right.

He then ran work with Moony & Pugh Constructors, Matrix Services, F.E. Ward Constructors, Graham, IMCO, and Leone & Keeble. That is thirty-plus years on schools, hospitals, clinics, bridges, refineries, and plants — not a slogan

Military Service

Ted served 2006–2014 with the Army National Guard, 161st Infantry Battalion, as an infantry specialist during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Safety on our jobs comes from that service and from the years in the field.

Sons

Ramon Moncada

Ramon “Luke” Moncada started on the tools at 16, including the Othello Clinic. He made journeyman carpenter in 2017. He now runs estimating, project oversight, and quality control for Montcada Sons.

Before and beside that he worked mass timber, forming, and commercial carpentry on jobs that do not need extra adjectives: Amazon 1001 office towers in Bellevue, the Walmart campus mass-timber build in Bentonville, the Seattle Airport multi-level parking garage, Queen Anne Elementary in Seattle, the Grant County Criminal Justice facility in Ephrata, Quincy High School, Royal City Schools, and Larson Recreation Center.

Why we opened our own door

After working for all those firms, Ted wanted a company that still uses local subs, still answers the inspector, and still leaves money in the Basin. We did not start to be the biggest. We started so the work would carry our name.
