Ted’s journey began in Moses Lake, WA, apprenticing under Ed Shultz, a master builder celebrated for his high-quality custom homes. Under Shultz’s mentorship, Ted honed his craftsmanship, laying the groundwork for a remarkable career.
Rising to the Challenge
Moving to Spokane, WA, Ted joined Interstate Structures, diving into commercial construction. Here, he mastered welding and excelled in a fast-paced environment where precision met tight deadlines, balancing cost and efficiency with skill.
Leading with Vision
At Kerry Olson Construction, Ted helped construct the iconic St. Peter’s Church in Spokane. Promoted to foreman, his keen eye for detail brought intricate, ornate designs to life, showcasing his ability to lead and deliver excellence.

Over the past 30 years, Ted has overseen a diverse portfolio of projects, from colleges and schools to hospitals, clinics, bridges, and refineries. Working with top-tier firms like Moony & Pugh Constructors, Matrix Services Inc., F.E. Ward Constructors, Graham, Imco, and Leone & Keeble, he’s left an indelible mark on the industry. His expertise in hospital and patient environment remodels underscores his ability to handle sensitive, high-stakes projects with care and precision.

Military Service
An Army Veteran (2006–2014) with the Army National Guard, 161st Infantry Battalion,
Ted served as an Infantry Specialist (SPC) during the Iraqi Freedom campaign. His advanced combat life/safety skills and medical training as a combat veteran bring a unique perspective to his leadership in high-pressure construction environments.


Ramon “Luke” Moncada
Luke is a seasoned Journeyman Carpenter with over a decade of hands-on experience in the construction industry, beginning at age 11 under the mentorship of his father, Ted Moncada. Luke brings a robust work ethic, practical expertise, and a commitment to excellence to every project he undertakes.
Specializing in carpentry and concrete work, Luke has contributed to a wide range of construction projects, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments. His notable projects include the Alaska #2 building at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the historic remodel of Queen Anne Elementary in Seattle, the Amazon 1001 Office Towers in Bellevue, WA, and the innovative mass timber construction of the Walmart Campus in Bentonville, AR.
A union carpenter since 2017, Luke honed his foundational skills under experienced professionals and continues to prioritize continuous learning, accountability, and precision. His dedication to quality ensures that every task is executed with exceptional craftsmanship, making him a valuable asset to Montcada & Sons Construction.
