Date: December 2025

Montcada Sons is proud to announce that we’ve started work on the new Marriott StudioRes extended-stay hotel in Moses Lake, Washington—serving as a key subcontractor under general contractor Stephens & Sons Inc. (Yakima, WA).

Located adjacent to the existing Fairfield Inn & Suites near the I-90 interchange, this 90-room midscale project by owners The Hotel Group and Hogback Development Company is designed for modern travelers needing flexible, longer stays with full kitchens and amenities.

Our team is handling critical foundation elements, including forming, rebar placement, and concrete pours—bringing our 60+ years of precision craftsmanship and battle-tested reliability to ensure a rock-solid start.

StudioRes Hotel Project Update: Perimeter Foundations Complete!

December 21, 2025 – Moses Lake, WA

Montcada Sons is proud to share the latest milestone on the StudioRes hotel project: our second and final perimeter foundation pour was successfully completed on December 19th!

This pour wrapped up the entire building perimeter, creating a rock-solid base for the structure to come. The elevator pit is waiting on final clarifications before it can be poured – everything is lining up perfectly for a smooth transition to the next phase.

With the perimeter secured, our crews are gearing up for the interior tie beams that will form the backbone of the hotel’s ground floor. Coordination with electricians and plumbers is already underway to ensure all underground rough-ins are placed precisely before concrete flows.

“Seeing the full footprint take shape is always exciting,” said Ted Moncada, owner of Montcada Sons. “This pour marks the shift from foundation work to vertical construction – the building is about to rise fast.”

Montcada Sons is excited to report a major milestone on the StudioRes hotel project: our first successful perimeter foundation pour is in the books!

The crew stripped the forms today, revealing clean, crisp walls that look outstanding. This pour established the building’s outer footprint and sets the stage perfectly for the second (and final) perimeter pour coming up soon.

A big shout-out to the incredible team here at (MTS) Construction for their precision and hard work. Special thanks to the pump operator — handling that pumper hose is one of the toughest jobs on site, and as always. Safety First!

“Every solid foundation starts with a pour like this,” said Ted Moncada, owner of Montcada Sons. “Seeing those forms come off clean is proof of the craftsmanship we bring to every project.”

Montcada Sons is off to a strong start on the StudioRes hotel project! Our crews have been hard at work setting forms for the perimeter foundations, preparing the site for the upcoming concrete pours.

Precise formwork is the backbone of any solid structure — it ensures straight walls, accurate elevations, and a flawless finish once the concrete sets. With rebar in place and forms locked tight, we’re ready to pour the first section of the building’s perimeter in the coming days.

Getting the forms right is where the real craftsmanship shows, This is the critical step in getting a push ahead of the coldest days ahead.
